2018-2021

2020, the year of lock down. Paintings on canvas, wood and paper; using acrylics, gouache, and ink pens. The themes are set around graffiti, DNA, mythical, and sacred geometry.

painting on paper from prints, 2021

I bought a watercolour pad right before lockdown and began to use it as the weeks progressed. I started with pencil and acrylic paint, which evolved into prints of the original drawings, and then painting onto the prints using transparent gesso, ink pens and acrylic paint, reworking the originals and creating something new.

drawings/paintings on paper, 2021

The initial drawings in the watercolour pad that I bought right before lockdown. I sat in front of the pad with a ruler, compass, pencils and acrylic paints. They were meditative, therapeutic free flowing expressions. After doing these for a while I sent some of the images off to the printers. The next stage was working painting into, and painting onto the prints. Those are the ones above.

study of a shell, 2017

The discipline to sit before a single object. The same object but different days, different times and different light. The art of mindfulness, being present, transcending boredom, moving forward yet remaining still. Staying focused, breathing and aware.

These are all painted from the same conch shell.
